**From Our Publicist, an additional note:
Hello all,

The Genealogy Society of Okaloosa County will have as it's meeting on 14 March, a trip to the Baker Block Museum in Baker, FL.  The museum has an extensive library devoted to genealogy as well as knowledgeable volunteers to assist us.  Members, and any others who are interested in genealogy, are invited to meet at the large sign at the Palm Plaza on John Simms Pkwy at 9:00 AM to carpool to Baker.
Those driving alone may join us at the Museum at 10:00 AM.   Dutch Treat lunch after the meeting as usual.

Thank you,

Pat Pruett, Publicity Chairperson GSOC

How to Find an Obituary in Okaloosa County

Contact the "Research" person at the NWF Daily News, whose job it is to research this type of thing. You may call Toll Free 1-800-755-1185 OR e-mail at lindam@nwfdailynews.com.

Contact the reference librarian at an Okaloosa library.

Contact the Heritage Museum in Valparaiso, Florida. They have a vertical file of over 10,000 index cards for area obits.

The Niceville Public Library also maintains an obituary file from the NW Florida Daily News. The obits are clipped from the paper and stored in page protectors in 3-ring binders and are filed by date. This is fairly complete beginning several years ago. I'm pretty sure they would have the 2004 obit.
