The records of the Post Office Department in the National Archives shows that a post office was established at Cerro Gordo, Holmes County, Florida, on 5 July 1848. This post office was thereafter opened and discontinued on the following dates:
Closed 24 Aug 1849 Opened 28 Mar 1870
Closed 24 Apr 1876 Opened 20 Aug 1879
Closed 20 May 1881 Opened 03 Oct 1889
The post office was closed for good on 31 August 1907. The mail was then sent to Westville, Florida. Below is a list of postmasters who served at this post office and their dates of appointment.
