This largely rural county offers industrial prospects abundant and for large or small-scale industrial development, interstate transportation access, low tax rates, a trainable workforce and rural economic development/job incentives from the county as well as the state. Geography: Located in the midst of the Choctawhatchee River basin, most of the County is forested (61%) or cleared farmland (31%). The natural fresh water supply is abundant. Access to the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway is possible via the Choctawhatchee River, which traverses the county from north to south.
