Dr Rev Oscar Bennett Potter, age 51 of Royal Palm Beach, Florida, passed away March 10, 1999 in Columbus, Ohio of an apparent heart attack. He was a native of Washington County, Chipley. He received a BS Degree from Florida A&M University, Master from the University of Florida, Specialist from Nova University and PhD from Ohio State. He was founder and pastor of the Christian Fellowship Center in West Palm Beach, founder of Potters' Ministries Institution and was involved in several outreach ministries such as the Prison, Nursing Home, Homeless, Youth and Single Parents. He was a veteran of the Viet Nam era. Funeral services were March 20th at St Joseph A M E Church in Chipley with the Rev Frank Jefferson and the Rev Claudia King officiating. Interment followed in the family plot of St Joseph Cemetery in Chipley with Cooper Funeral Home of Chipley directing. A memorial service was held March 18 at Greater Bethel Primitive Baptist Church in Riveria Beach, Florida. Survivors include his wife Loraine Jarrett Potter of Royal Palm Beach, Florida; daughter Reneshia N Potter of Gainesville, Florida; brother Ernest Potter (Barbara) of Chipley and Lonnie Potter (Vickey) of Marietta, Georgia; sisters Mary Potter Booker and Z Deborah Potter Brown (Frederick) of Chipley; step-mother Lillie Potter of Marietta, Georgia; aunts and uncles Virena Brown of Tallahassee, Joseph B Harmon (Annie), William G Harmon (Matilda), Isaiah Potter (Rosie) of Chipley, Eva M Campbell (Marvin) of DeFuniak Springs, Grace Warren (Paul), Elsie Harmon, all of Chipley, Agatha Rollings (Johnny) of Atlantic City, New Jersey and Bessie Smith of Ebro; two grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
