MR CARKHUFF PASSES AWAY: Mr Edwin Carkhuff, a pioneer and a most worthy citizen of Bonifay departed this life early last Saturday morning. A man of unusual vigor, he fought his malady, heart dropsy, bravely six weeks before the end came. He lived a few months more than the allotted "three score and ten years" allowed to men, and until his last sickness he continued actively in his work of painting in which he took so much pride. Mr Carkhuff was one of the earliest settlers of Bonifay, having come here from Nebraska nearly thirty years ago. With older settlers from the North and West about that time he engaged in religious work for the place, doing faithful service in Sunday school and church when conditions were hardest and needs greatest. An honest man of kindly heart and ready hand has gone from among us, leaving a wife brave and true and three sons to mourn his loss.
